5 VR Headsets That Make the Gaming Experience Unbelievable

Nowadays people like to have options everywhere. Technology is not an exception. We can assume that VR is quite new in technology world, but it already has a lot of options. It’s time to talk about VR brands: which ones do the best job keeping VR lovers’ satisfaction? And who created the best options for consumers?

We picked 5 VR headsets which stood out the most to us:

1. Oculus Rift

How we can start this list without mentioning Oculus? We can surely call Oculus VR pioneers. Starting from Kickstarter, their success continues to beat the top of most selling VR headsets in the world.
Looking at it from technical perspective, it is important to mention that this headset has a DVI and USB ports plugs. What is more, Rift is able to track your head movements providing 3D imagery on its stereo screens.
Even though Oculus Rift has an amazing success story and deserves only good words, HTC Vive is becoming many people’s new favourite.

2. HTC Vive

Is this the start of change in customer preference or have HTC just come up with an unbelievably good headset? We believe in both. The main difference between Oculus Rift and HTC Vive is that HTC Vive allows you to walk around 360-degree room-sized spaces, making VR experience as immersive as possible. As soon as HTC Vive was released, there were plenty of articles comparing these two headsets. Unfortunately to Oculus, captions were more friendly to HTC Vive this time. Suddenly Oculus rift was called ‘second best’ VR headset. Even though the pair of HTC headsets is the most expensive ones, in this case the price is worth the product. Well done, HTC.

3. Sony PlayStation VR

Other VR headset which couldn’t be forgotten is Sony PlayStation. Sony found its place in the VR market with this headset and, compared to Vive and Rift, it is the most affordable option. However, it requires a PlayStation camera and in some cases PlayStation Move controllers which are not included in the set. PS VR let you feel immersion by showing two images together. What’s the difference between PS VR, Vive and Rift? Well, unlike the others, Sony creates immersion using only PlayStation 4 and a small black box while Vive and Rift requires expensive graphic cards.

4. Samsung Gear VR

Let’s talk about more affordable options by adding Samsung Gear VR to the list. It’s a collaboration between Oculus Rift and Samsung, and a pretty good one, we have to say. The visual side of this product is a main con, comparing to others, but on the other hand you can’t expect super high quality from a smartphone used as display. It’s really simple to use: adjust your smartphone, put on the headset and that’s it! However, it works only if you have Samsung headset.

5. Google cardboard

Last but not least – Google cardboard headset. This option is probably the best for those, who want to try VR but can’t afford Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. Google Cardboard launched this do-it-yourself kit in 2014. Now they appear in various shapes and colours for those who want something different. As the name suggests, Google cardboard is made of cardboard and a couple of lenses.
The best part is that you don’t need any additional gear to use this device – only your smartphone and these cardboards. There is no head strap or other holder, so you have to hold the device yourself. The main flaw of this device is that it is not very efficient to use in the daylight: the light might shine through the gaps, so a consumer will get a better experience by using it in a dark place. However, considering this product price – it is a great alternative for many people.
