Advanced technology on board the world’s premier cruise ships

Olorama Digital Scent Technology

The image of the cruise world has recently undergone a transformation, with ships going from being viewed as floating hotels for older people to an attractive option packed with original activities for all ages, in which new visual and multimedia technologies and robotics play key roles.

The Royal Caribbean cruise line has been on the cutting edge of this digital transformation on its modern Quantum Class vessels, on which passengers enjoy access to a broad selection of activities, sports, games and spectacles designed to deliver the ultimate in comfort and entertainment for travellers of all ages and interests.

Amptown Company System uses 18 12,000 lumina projectors by Panasonic to create a floor-to-ceiling screen that is able to generate all kinds of stage backdrops at the groundbreaking entertainment venues created for passengers travelling on Royal Caribbean’s luxury ships.

The Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas vessels were recently joined by the Ovation of the Seas this year. Each ship boasts 16 decks for guests; 2,090 cabins, including 1,570 with balconies and 373 interior, all with virtual high-tech balconies.

The technology that we use here, explained Richard Fain, the Chairman and CEO Royal Caribbean Cruises, costs more than the company’s first ship.€ One example of this and a fundamental element of Two70 is Vistarama, a mapping technology featuring floor-to-ceiling video projection, with Panasonic systems that make it possible to generate all kinds of scenes, real or imaginary, as stage backdrops.
